"Noelene and I moved from the Sydney suburb of Winston Hills to Merimbula.
Although our new home has an excellent location, is well built and was only eight years old, it was in need of completion & renovation.
The front garden was in poor condition, there were no side access pathways, no outdoor living area, and no backyard gardens.
We contacted 4 local landscape gardening businesses for quotations. All 4 made site inspections however only one made a committment to meet our expectations and provide a written cost estimate for materials & labour.
Peter designed the gardens based on our basic preferences and plans for an outdoor living area. All site clearing, tree stump removal, provision of materials, site layout, construction of block and treated pine retaining walls, soil improvement & preparation, laying of turf and planting of plants was carried out by Peter and his team.
Peter also invited our participation in the selection of plants and materials and assisting with the actual contruction. To us this was very important & greatly appreciated as we took some ownership of the project and gardens.
Our garden renovation was completed in an acceptable timeframe and within out budget. More important the end result far exceeded our expectations. Peter's excellent design and plant selection greatly contributed to the success of the project. We also very much enjoyed having Peter and his team at our home.
Noelene and I would highly recommend Peter Byard Garden Design & Establishment, we regard them as the best on the NSW south coast." Ian Franks, Merimbula.
"Peter was engaged by this school to plan, coordinate and construct a major landscaping upgrade project in the courtyard of Pambula Public School.
The scope of this work included:
Planter box construction
Treated pine step construction
Re-paving a significant area around this site
During this project, I found Peter to be consultative, willing to work with school routines and requests and was able to work constructively with associated trades."
Mark Thomson, Principal, Pambula Public School
"I contacted Peter Byard in regard to designing and establishing a tropical garden. After several consultations and him submitting plans and quotes, it was agreed that an extensive tropical garden was achievable and well suited to the site.
The main components were to be a series of individual gardens each with a specific purpose of either display or screening. The gardens were to be linked by a free flowing stepping stone and pebble pathway and would include a bridge over a large and deep fishpond. The path also had to connect the clothes line area to the house.
Each garden was designed to be moisture and fertiliser specific to allow us to select the right plants to create the desired effect. An automatic and programmable watering system and lighting system and extensive interconnecting sub surface drainage, all had to be designed and engineered before the turning of the first sod.
Peter had a well established network of tradies and subbies and the entire project came together seamlessly. We were able to become increasingly extravagant towards the end of the project as everything was on budget and working well. We added a 30 metre dry stonewall as a feature, which has beautifully framed a very clever and spectacular garden.
Two years on we are continually impressed by the strengths of those original designs. I have no hesitation in recommending Peter Byard Garden Design and Establishment." Tim Cochrane
